| All right, then I'll take a motion move to approve the consent agenda. Second, it's been moved by Commissioner James. Second, by | 00:15:02 | |
| Commissioner Freeman. All in favor, Say aye. Aye. Opposed, say nay. | 00:15:07 | |
| Alright, that is approved. Now we have a proclamation 30 year Anniversary of Household Hazardous Waste Greener facility September | 00:15:12 | |
| 16th, 2024. | 00:15:18 | |
| I'm going to read this proclamation into the record. Proclamation Household Hazardous Waste Greedy Facility 30 Year anniversary | 00:15:24 | |
| September 16th, 2024. Whereas in 1994, the Greeley Household Hazardous Waste Facility was established to provide well county | 00:15:32 | |
| residents with a safe, convenient, environmentally responsible way to dispose of hazardous household materials. | 00:15:40 | |
| And WHEREAS, for 30 years, the Greeley facility has served as a cornerstone of environmental stewardship in Well County, offering | 00:15:48 | |
| a way to properly dispose of hazardous materials and protecting our community air, soil and water. And WHEREAS, the facility has | 00:15:56 | |
| significantly contributed to public health and safety by offering education and resources to residents, helping to reduce the | 00:16:03 | |
| potential hazards posed by toxic chemicals in homes and neighborhoods. And whereas, the HHW program. | 00:16:11 | |
| Has processed more than £10 million of household hazardous waste and served over 137,000 customers at the Greeley and Decono | 00:16:18 | |
| facilities across the past three decades. And whereas this milestone anniversary provides an opportunity to recognize the | 00:16:26 | |
| dedication and hard work of the HW staff and their contributions to a cleaner, safer environment, and to celebrate the Greeley HHW | 00:16:33 | |
| facility as a vital resource for our community. | 00:16:41 | |
| Now for therefore be it proclaimed by the Board of Well County Commissioners that September 16th, 2024 be a day to celebrate the | 00:16:49 | |
| 30th anniversary of the Greeley Household Hazardous Waste Facility and encourages all citizens to join in recognizing the | 00:16:56 | |
| facilities and valuable services to our community. Signed by all Board of Commissioners. | 00:17:03 | |
| Good morning, Jason. | 00:17:11 | |
| I do. Thank you, ma'am. It's not very often that you get to recognize a program that's been in place for 30 years. And I'm going | 00:17:16 | |
| to tell you, if you haven't visited the Household Hazardous Waste program, this is a fun group. | 00:17:24 | |
| If you visit, you're going to have fun. | 00:17:32 | |
| The the program was started 30 years ago. The intent was to keep household hazardous waste out of landfills. So when you think | 00:17:36 | |
| household hazardous waste, things like paint, motor oil, antifreeze, lighter fluid, gasoline, any type of household hazardous | 00:17:43 | |
| waste, well, I should say. | 00:17:50 | |
| There are very few types of household hazardous waste that this program doesn't accept. And you know you think of 10,000,000 lbs | 00:17:58 | |
| being diverted from landfills to this program which disposed of properly servicing over 130,000 customers over the course of 30 | 00:18:04 | |
| years. | 00:18:10 | |
| And that's a milestone that we should celebrate. So I want to thank the staff, of course I. | 00:18:17 | |
| The Well County Department of Public Health and Environment. The Household Hazardous Waste Program. | 00:18:23 | |
| None of that happens without staff. It, it's an abstract idea without the staff to actually do the work. So I want to thank the | 00:18:30 | |
| staff and I want to get Dan an opportunity to say if you were to, to introduce the staff. Yes, definitely. So we've come a long | 00:18:36 | |
| way. That's actually where I started my career was in household hazardous waste. And we're weighing things back on bathroom scales | 00:18:43 | |
| back in the day and we've slowly upgraded our uptake with that, but from this program. | 00:18:50 | |
| Most people don't like to pay their taxes. Most people don't like to pay with the DMV to get their driver's license plates. | 00:18:57 | |
| This is one program that everyone shows up and feels very happy, so it's great. We get a lot of good compliments for the team | 00:19:02 | |
| that's here and for a few of the other individuals who couldn't make it today. | 00:19:07 | |
| So it's always a positive experience. It's a great face for the county that represents as well. And just people enjoy coming here | 00:19:13 | |
| with that. So Jack Harper is our program coordinator. I've been doing it now, 25 this year somewhere in there. Yeah, on that. Mike | 00:19:20 | |
| is one of our newer plays. Casey. You might see him out at a lot of the events. So that education and other things that we do, | 00:19:28 | |
| he's involved a lot with that. Eric is another one of our employees. Gabriel also spent many, many years. | 00:19:35 | |
| Down there and has ever seen it as well. With that said, we just it's a great time. It's always fun. I know some of you guys have | 00:19:43 | |
| used it yourselves. | 00:19:47 | |
| And we're happy to have both locations and Greeley and Dakota and offer basically, you know, 5-6 days a week that we have | 00:19:51 | |
| available with that. So we really appreciate the team. Thank you. Thank God. I just need, I think you need it. | 00:19:57 | |
| I could miss your game. You have a few comments about once you are. Usually my wife decides to paint something a little bit about | 00:20:06 | |
| halfway through that bucket of paint. Then all of a sudden the color sucks. It's amazing how it happens. | 00:20:11 | |
| So I come see you guys not once a year. I appreciate you taking the pain to Julie's throwing away half used. That said though, I | 00:20:16 | |
| appreciate the efforts that you go to truly protect the environment to keep that stuff out of the landfill. It's truly a citizen | 00:20:22 | |
| or a service, a service to our citizens and we appreciate your hard work. Thanks for doing it. | 00:20:27 | |
| Commissioner saying yes, and I would like to ask, what is the weirdest thing you've seen come into those facilities? How much time | 00:20:33 | |
| do you have? | 00:20:37 | |
| It's like a fire extinguisher kind of thing. | 00:20:45 | |
| When you thought out the best of fire, that would suck the oxygen away and directly put the fire out. | 00:20:52 | |
| We see those on occasion. | 00:21:00 | |
| That's amazing. | 00:21:03 | |
| Literally old snake, or like old snake medicine oil you've had come in here. | 00:21:05 | |
| The guy that brought in the 5 lbs of cyanide. | 00:21:11 | |
| That's good. | 00:21:16 | |
| We haven't had to call the bombs car very often. We do find ammunition, a few other things, but luckily not that. So calcium | 00:21:18 | |
| carbide mining lamps, Yeah. You get to make fire with water. Yeah. Yeah, right. | 00:21:25 | |
| We have a new member that just. | 00:21:34 | |
| He's actually a new employee, just started a couple of weeks ago. | 00:21:38 | |
| He's also doing our Lab Rats, but is now working down at our site as well. So yeah, we're happy to have him on board. | 00:21:40 | |
| Welcome, Mr. Freeman. I don't even know how to follow that. | 00:21:50 | |
| Thank you for what you guys do. And it keeps you out of the landfill right beside my house. So that's a, that's a good thing, All | 00:22:03 | |
| right. | 00:22:07 | |
| I want to thank you also. I know Gabby was so good for my mother and the whole radon thing, just all that you do and knowing that | 00:22:13 | |
| in well County we do watch over our environment and just thank you for your service. So with that, we'd like to take a picture. I | 00:22:18 | |
| think we all could probably go down. | 00:22:24 | |
| Just to let you know, if we we, if we bring in material that is still good and usable, we have an area that we actually give it | 00:22:31 | |
| away to the community. | 00:22:37 | |
| Have a bathroom or bedroom paint. You can always come in there and take a look before we go to school. Fertilizers. | 00:22:44 | |
| Photogenic in the back. I can hear you. | 00:23:07 | |
| Open it here. I am going to get in trying to get in the middle. | 00:23:13 | |
| Apartment. | 00:23:26 | |
| We get to screw in a little bit closer to each other than we can get everybody in the frame. | 00:23:29 | |
| All right, everybody smile 123. | 00:23:35 | |
| Excellent. Thank you very much. | 00:23:42 | |
| Thank you. Thank you. | 00:23:47 | |
| Thank you. | 00:23:52 | |
| Thanks a lot. | 00:23:58 | |
