I'm going to read this into the. 00:18:17
That the millions of people that are listening search of certificate of achievement, this certificate. 00:18:19
Is proudly presented to Mike Schwan, Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. Whereas Mike Schwan has served the 00:18:24
well County Department of Public Health and Environment from November 16th, 2011 to March 1st. 00:18:31
2025 and WHEREAS the Board of Well County Commissioners wishes to recognize your dedicated service to Well County and its 00:18:37
citizens. 00:18:41
Now, therefore, let it be known that the Board of Well County Commissioners wishes to express its gratitude to Mike Sharon for 00:18:45
your outstanding dedication to Well County and its citizens. Signed by all 5 Commissioners. 00:18:51
And go ahead, Bob. Yeah. Good morning, Commissioner. It's good to see you. Bob McDonald, Director for Health Education and the 00:19:01
Health Department. Yeah, Mike has been with us for 13 years. I've worked with him for the last 10 months. 00:19:07
Yeah, I will tell you he is just a fantastic. 00:19:14
Educator and our Childhood Obesity Prevention program is a registered dietitian. He's a nutritionist. 00:19:17
And just I have to say, Mike, you're, you're a good man. He's a great guy, you know, I'll admit. 00:19:24
I didn't get to know Mike as well as I have our other staff members because he's very quiet. 00:19:29
But he's made an impression on me. In fact, I remember the first time in our staff meeting better and say something. 00:19:35
It made an impression for two reasons. 1 is that I didn't know the man talked. 00:19:41
What what he said was very positive about his staff members. I remember this day he thanked a couple of his staff members for 00:19:48
helping him out with something and it's been that way ever since. 00:19:52
I don't know, people who talk all the time, right, maybe don't have too much to say, and some people struggle with something 00:19:57
positive to say. 00:20:01
Mike is unique in that he doesn't talk much, but when he does, he's just he's very sincere and humble. 00:20:05
And I really appreciate you just. 00:20:11
Bringing that into the office every day, Mike, in a world where it seems that's harder and harder to come by. He's a Goodman. He's 00:20:14
a good friend. 00:20:17
I hope that you will keep in touch with this Mike, because you are leaving some friends behind for sure. 00:20:21
So thank you for all your work, your dedication. I'm going to miss him as the only person that gets in the office at 7:00 and very 00:20:26
quiet now. But please keep in touch with us, Mike, and thank you for everything. 00:20:32
You want to add anything? 00:20:41
Well, just really quickly. 00:20:42
Mike, thank you for your service. It's a. 00:20:45
It's harder and harder every day to find an employee that shows up on time every day, puts their head down and. 00:20:49
Does their job to the best of their ability without complaint. 00:20:57
You know that seems like a. 00:21:00
Pretty low bar, but it's not. 00:21:02
And it describes Mike and. 00:21:04
Weld County is better off for having had you. 00:21:07
Serve the residents for the last 13 years. 00:21:10
I appreciate you choosing to work at Will County for the last 13 years. 00:21:13
And I wish you the best. 00:21:17
Mike, did you want to say something? 00:21:21
You just ask a man a few words. 00:21:24
Well, thank you, Commissioners, and it's just been a privilege to work for Wells County. 00:21:27
And. 00:21:34
And a true honor. So I will miss everyone. Thank you so much. 00:21:35
Thank you. 00:21:39
Any comments from the board? 00:21:41
I also am not one with many many words, but I do want to thank you. 00:21:43
For the time that you've invested into well County, invested into the county citizens. 00:21:48
I'm a man, Mike, of an avalanche of words. Just a company of. 00:21:54
Words I I appreciate you seeing yours to me. 00:21:58
Thank you. The people of Well County a little bit are frustrated with you, but that's OK. 00:22:01
Micah, but obesity education is is what you're in. Are you taking side work in retirement? I'm just asking for a friend I. 00:22:06
For having Mike, thank you for serving the people of Well County. We appreciate it very, very much. And in your retirement, I hope 00:22:13
you enjoy some sugary snacks, perhaps some fattening food. 00:22:19
Go crazy? Sure. 00:22:24
Right, Commissioner Maxie. 00:22:27
Thank you, Madam Chair. Mike, thank you so much for your years of service to well County. It means a lot to the people you're 00:22:29
leaving. I just especially want to thank you for the humble way you served. 00:22:34
And the graciousness of your heart to serve those in the community. So thank you. 00:22:40
Mr. Ross. Thank you, Madam Chair. Mike, I got a question. What are you going to do in retirement? 00:22:45
I want to be doing some financial planning very good. That's where I came from. So I wish the best. That's also a field of serving 00:22:50
folks. 00:22:54
Helping them live out their dreams. So thank you for serving well County. Appreciate your leadership here and all that you've 00:22:59
contributed to our county. I wish you a A. 00:23:03
A great career in financial services world. 00:23:08
Thank you and I just agree with everybody of all that's been said and just want to thank you for your service, Sir. And you know, 00:23:11
stay in touch. We were going to miss. 00:23:15
Those positive role models in our department and. 00:23:20
I'm sure you always have a home you could come back to. 00:23:24
But anyway, thank you so much and enjoy your retirement. We'd like to have a picture with you, I'm sure. 00:23:27
Family here. Family. Yeah. Family. 00:23:35
Yeah, so. 00:23:40
It is. 00:23:53
Just trying to get you. 00:23:55
The two of you come on the other side of the. 00:24:09
No, I think it's. 00:24:16
We could. 00:24:19
No, no, no, no. Thanks a lot. Smile. 00:24:20
Thanks, Mike. 00:24:30
Thank you. Congratulations, Mike. 00:24:36
Thank you, Sir. 00:24:45
All right, the University Bulldogs Day Class 2A and 3A Palm State Championship. 00:24:59
February 12th of 22,025. 00:25:05
I'm going to read this into the record and have all of you come up, because we would. 00:25:08
Have you introduce yourself, say your name and what? 00:25:14
Class that you're in. 00:25:17
So as you come up, the coaches. 00:25:19
All right, this proclamation for the University Bulldogs Day, February 12th, 2025. 00:25:24
Whereas the University Bulldogs Palm team competed in the 2024 State Championship on December 14th at the Denver Coliseum. 00:25:30
And whereas the Bulldog took home the Class 2A3A state championship. 00:25:38
Behind a performance that earned them. 00:25:43
84.4 points, just enough to claim the title. 00:25:45
The championship is the Palm program, 6th in school history and 2nd in three years. 00:25:49
And whereas the consistent success of the University Palms team has elevated the awareness surrounding dance and garnered the 00:25:55
sport. 00:25:59
Recognition for the athletic ability and timing it requires. 00:26:03
This season's state championship victory also garnered. 00:26:07
Gina Shepherd, Coach of the Year honors from the Colorado High School Activities Association. 00:26:10
And whereas only team members, parents and coaches truly know the work that went into this season. 00:26:16
However, we do know the traits like teamwork and dedication. 00:26:22
Are critical to success and we're proud to see our young people apply each when striving towards a goal. 00:26:25
The state championship and this proclamation. 00:26:32
Will forever memorialize that the goal was achieved and we hope every team member remembers they are capable of great things. 00:26:35
Now therefore be it proclaimed that the Board of well County Commissioners the 12th day of February 2025 be known as the 00:26:42
University Bulldogs Day. 00:26:46
We appreciate the opportunity to recognize the Farms team, coaches and parents on Memorable, Memorable. 00:26:51
Accomplishment signed by all 5 commissioners. Thank you. 00:26:58
On that night note, can you just want to share your name and what class? 00:27:06
I'm Michaela Martinez and I'm a senior, OK? 00:27:11
I'm John. I am A. 00:27:14
I'm on a lease and I'm a senior. 00:27:17
I'm Angelina and I'm a senior. 00:27:19
Junior. 00:27:25
I'm sorry and I'm a junior. 00:27:27
I'm born and I'm a sophomore. 00:27:29
I'm Savannah and I'm a freshman. 00:27:32
I'm Kylie and I'm a freshman. 00:27:34
I'm Becca and I'm a freshman. 00:27:36
I'm Sophie and I'm a freshman. 00:27:39
And we're missing 2. We've got 1 senior and one freshman from Early College Academy. So you couldn't be here. Yeah. I'm Gina 00:27:42
Shepherd. I'm coach. 00:27:45
Great. Tell us more. I've been coaching for 10 years and I've seen many of you multiple times. 00:27:49
In the past couple years, but every year is so different with the team of girls. 00:27:57
And just the challenges that we we face and I just really appreciate that they get recognition from the city. 00:28:01
It means a lot to them, so thank you and me too. 00:28:08
Thank you. 00:28:11
All right. Does the board have anything? 00:28:12
Mr. Pepper, congratulations, This will take a lot of dedication and a tremendous amount of time. 00:28:16
Your efforts have paid off. 00:28:22
And, umm. 00:28:24
Seniors, you're going to be off to doing something new and exciting. Freshmen, there's a lot of you in there. We expect to see you 00:28:25
back and congratulations to each. 00:28:29
Ladies, I just want to tell you what a pleasure it is to have you here, to have a team that's not from Eaton. 00:28:35
In front of us. 00:28:40
Bit of shade to my fellow Commissioner down the lane there. 00:28:44
Ladies Day I. 00:28:49
What does that trophy weigh, by the way? Are you get tired? Are you OK? 00:28:50
It's actually pretty comfortable, I like that. 00:28:54
I want you to remember the feeling you had when they say and now she's a winner. It's pretty cool feeling. 00:28:58
The work that it took to get there, the commitment from you, the help from your parents. 00:29:03
It's the same way all through life. You apply yourself to something you dream of and you'll accomplish it. Then you'll have to 00:29:07
carry a trophy around the rest of your life. That's OK Congratulations ladies, God bless you. 00:29:13
All right, Commissioner Maxey, thank you, Madam Chair, Ladies, congratulations. That's amazing. 00:29:19
If I heard right, 6th in history, second in three years. That's that's amazing. So coach, good job with the with the ladies. 00:29:24
Team that's awesome. 00:29:31
You're losing some foundational, some foundational members, it sounds like with some seniors graduating, so underclassmen, you got 00:29:33
a big job stepping it up and. 00:29:37
You're gonna have people coming after you next year to try to take that that feeling away from you, that trophy away from you. So. 00:29:41
Good luck in the future. Thanks again, coach, and especially on the Coach of the Year award. That's amazing. Congratulations for 00:29:46
that. 00:29:49
And I just want to say thanks to all the parents too. 00:29:53
Raising 2 athletes ourselves when they were in high school and middle school, it takes a lot from the families and the parents to 00:29:55
get you guys to practice and to support you through all the all the competitions that you guys are in. So thanks to the families 00:29:59
as well. 00:30:03
All right, Commissioner. 00:30:08
Commissioner James, you all got to see how many banners we have up in high school this weekend, I think as a part of nine of the 00:30:10
state championships. 00:30:14
But ladies, you know how hard it is to win those, right? It took a lot of work this year and it's taken a lot of work over the six 00:30:18
previous ones that your group is one as far as and as well as the last two out of the three. 00:30:24
You got up early. You probably stayed late. 00:30:30
And it wasn't just why the season was going. There's a lot of offseason work as well. And. 00:30:33
I just want to say congratulations because. 00:30:37
When you're at the top, everybody comes getting for you and I know it takes a lot of hard work on your own part, a lot of planning 00:30:39
and preparation on your coaches part to get you guys to the very top. 00:30:44
Congratulations. Well say, I want to thank your parents. 00:30:49
Takes a lot of hard work on their part and a lot of sacrifice to get you there, so make sure you recognize that and remember that. 00:30:51
But coach, congratulations on your Coach of the Year award. 00:30:56
Those don't come easily. They're very hard. 00:31:00
Well done and good job ladies. 00:31:04
I'd like to thank our athletic director, too. He's here today, Ryan. He's been one of our biggest advocates at the school, making 00:31:07
sure that we get enough space because a lot of times we practice in the cafeteria. 00:31:11
So making sure we get gym space and we couldn't do it without you. Brian does a fabulous job. 00:31:17
Well I agree with everything that's been said. You guys are rock stars. Look around, you will have friendships and memories of 00:31:28
this moment for many many years. I want to thank the parents for all that they do getting their kids to the practices and all. 00:31:35
But I did. I think I'm mistaken. So your dancer? 00:31:42
We're not. 00:32:15
We would be honored to have a picture with you, if you don't mind. 00:32:18
There's a big game tonight, isn't there? 00:32:21
Not on the line tonight. 00:32:28
And then I get in the middle. 00:32:37
Make sure you can see the camera. You can't see it, it can't see you. 00:32:46
It's gonna say find your windows. 00:32:51
All right. 00:32:54
123. 00:32:56
OK, thank you, guys. Congratulations, Commissioner Ross. You can't smile around the University of people. It's OK. Hey, I'm, you 00:33:02
know, I have no skin in tonight's game, so I I wish you all the best. 00:33:08
Congrats ladies. 00:33:15
Congratulations, have a great day. 00:33:24
All right, next on the agenda. 00:33:35
Colorado No. 00:33:37
Engineers Week. 00:33:41
February 16th through the 22nd 2025 is there. 00:33:42
Anybody to accept this? 00:33:47
We're asking for the most shy people in the world, engineers, to come up and accept this. 00:33:50
I would like to see that. 00:34:01
Acclimation Engineers Week, February 16th through the 22nd. 00:34:05
2025 whereas engineers apply their scientific expertise, technical skills and innovative problem solving to meet the needs of our 00:34:09
community. 00:34:14
Ensure the continued growth of development of Wells County and improved quality of life. 00:34:18
And whereas engineers in Well County continue to be an integral to the advancement of our community's infrastructure from the 00:34:23
design review oversight. 00:34:28
Site and construction of roads and bridges and other vital construction projects. 00:34:32
And whereas engineering professionals are instrumental. 00:34:37
And ensuring that designs and developments adhere to legal, environmental and safety standards, as well as the community values 00:34:40
and needs. 00:34:44
And whereas the National Society of Professional Engineers. 00:34:49
Established National Engineers Week in 1951 to coincide with George Washington's Birthday, celebrating the invaluable contribution 00:34:52
engineers make to society. 00:34:58
Now therefore be it proclaimed by the Board of Well County Commissioners that February 16th through the 22nd, 2025. 00:35:04
She'll be recognized as Engineers Week in Weld County, Colorado. 00:35:11
And we encourage all citizens to join in honoring the dedicated engineers whose workshop. 00:35:15
Our county's future. 00:35:21
Signed by all 5 commissioners. Great crowd. 00:35:23
Good to see you. 00:35:25
This would be fun see what you want talks. 00:35:30
Thank you, Commissioners, for taking the time to honor. 00:35:38
This, this group of people up here, I was on the other side, you know, on the operations side. 00:35:41
With them a lot on. 00:35:46
On projects and how things should be done but. 00:35:48
You know what? They taught me a lot over the over my. 00:35:50
Career here at Weld county they are a dedicated group of individuals they they truly care about the safety of our traveling public 00:35:53
out there that is paramount in. 00:35:58
Everything they go about doing each and every day. 00:36:03
This group, I mean, tireless workers, I mean, they are. 00:36:06
They are 50 hour a week employees pretty much on a regular basis just because they're trying to get. 00:36:11
Get everything done the way they like it done. 00:36:16
It's very meticulous work for them. They don't. 00:36:19
They don't like anybody to find a problem with anything they've done. 00:36:22
And then when they're out on projects, I mean they're, they're 7080 hours a week sometimes trying to get stuff done and that they 00:36:26
are fantastic group of employees. I am proud. 00:36:31
To say I get to work alongside them each and every day. 00:36:36
Wonderful. David, come on up. 00:36:39
Yeah, good morning, Commissioners. You know, coming from a family of engineers myself and not ever being able to be 1. 00:36:42
I'm incredibly grateful. 00:36:48
These folks, they're, they're smart, they're competent, and they really bring that common sense into the intersection of design 00:36:50
standards. 00:36:53
You know, in the world, it's engineers and their development standards and then the rest of us lay people. And I couldn't be more 00:36:56
thankful for the things that they bring to the team for the development, for the safety of this county and the residents in it. 00:37:02
And yeah, truly just it's going to be a great week to celebrate them and really pull them out of their box a little bit. So thanks 00:37:08
for your time and honoring them this morning. 00:37:11
Can we have someone introduce them? 00:37:15
Yeah, I guess from my side. So again, David is Brown Director of Planning Services. 00:37:19
We have Don, she's our development review manager. And then I have the Three Stooges. Mike ever grows out his beard. I swear I 00:37:23
will not. 00:37:27
So we have Aaron Maurice, our newest engineer. We have Dan Campbell and then we have Mike, and then we have Melissa King, who's 00:37:31
also our senior engineer and she's unable to join us today. 00:37:36
Curtis Hall, director of Public Works. I've got Mike Bedell. 00:37:44
Cindy Wright. 00:37:48
Tracy Anderson. 00:37:50
County Engineer Don Dunker. 00:37:52
And we've got Eric. 00:37:53
On a job site, play on a job site. 00:37:55
Who am I missing? Cam's in a meeting. 00:37:58
So, all right, well, board comments, Lynette. Thank you, Madam Chair. 00:38:01
Short and sweet. Again, I just want to say thank you. 00:38:07
To everyone of you that is willing to crunch the numbers and study and apply the science so that we are all safe and you ensure 00:38:09
the safety of all other citizens also, thank you very much. 00:38:15
I have not seen such a fight for the back row since I regularly attended the self respiratory church. 00:38:21
That was impressive and. 00:38:26
And I want to thank you. 00:38:28
As much as we like to tease engineers because. 00:38:30
Your engineers. 00:38:32
We do want to make sure we extended things because you do keep our public safe. You make sure it's built right, built well. 00:38:34
And the folks in Well County are are are. 00:38:39
Are comfortable in their safety, so thank you so much for doing what you do. 00:38:42
All right, Commissioner Maxey. 00:38:47
Thank you, Madam Chair. I just initially find that the order of the agenda very, very funny in its own way, because we had to 00:38:48
contain the bubbliness of the university, the university's dance team. 00:38:55
Bookend it with one of the most quiet people in the county recognized and then quiet group here. 00:39:02
In all seriousness, I I've had the the personal pleasure to work with almost all of you except for the newest newest gentleman 00:39:08
here but but I. 00:39:11
As a former staff member, I've had the pleasure to work with. 00:39:15
All of you, I look forward to working with you for many more years. 00:39:18
And I thank you for what you guys do because it's vitally important to the county. Thank you. 00:39:22
And Mr. Ross, you guys definitely have a perfect arc. 00:39:26
Away from the microphone. 00:39:30
Your perfection is what well County sees every day. 00:39:32
In seriousness though, thank you. You keep everybody safe here in Weld County. I put you up. 00:39:35
Against anybody's engineers across the country. 00:39:42
Quite frankly, because I know we have a better product here and we do it faster and in a much better way than anywhere else and 00:39:45
that's really. 00:39:49
Attributable to everyone here and those that are unable to be with us here today. So thank you so much. You make us all proud. 00:39:53
Great job. 00:39:56
Yeah. I also want to thank all of you for those getting down to the details. 00:40:00
