Proclamation #1. National Ad Day, March 19th, 2024. | 00:06:37
Today National AG Day, March 19, 2024, whereas the Well County Board of Commissioners wishes to celebrate and recognize the | 00:06:45
agricultural producers of Well County, and whereas agriculture's roots run deep in Well County and continue to grow as operations | 00:06:51
are passed down to the next generation of producers. World County's commitment to keeping and enhancing ties to our agricultural | 00:06:57
roots is strong and those who dedicate their lives to preserving those roots should be celebrated and whereas recognized since | 00:07:03
1973. | 00:07:10 | |
And they was first established by the Agriculture Council of America to increase public awareness of agriculture integral role in | 00:07:16
our society. The families who work the land, care for livestock, plant crops, provide nourishment for our bodies and preserve this | 00:07:24
way of life are essential to our county. And whereas well county remains the number one producer and seller of agricultural | 00:07:31
products in Colorado, ranking eighth nationally and bringing in $2 billion annually now. | 00:07:38
Therefore, be a proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners. | 00:07:46
Tuesday, March 19, 2024, being known as National AG Day, we call upon the citizens of Weld County to join us in thanking our | 00:07:49
agricultural producers who are vital to our economic foundation and we maintain a way of life that is essential to keeping us | 00:07:55
nourished, signed by all 5 County Commissioners. | 00:08:01
Very good. | 00:08:08 | |
I'd like to say something. | 00:08:14
I really appreciate our farmers and ranchers and over the we are the top at production county in the state. So we actually really | 00:08:16
feed the rest of the state of Colorado and some of the states around us and they are the the ultimate gamblers because you never | 00:08:22
know what nature is going to hand them. | 00:08:27
The other end, they're day in and day out, and it's harder and harder to farm because his inputs are more and more expensive. And | 00:08:33
if folks weren't farming the way they were, the way they are now. | 00:08:39
I mean, we couldn't be afraid to do the other things that we're doing, like sitting at this diet. Doctors couldn't specialize in | 00:08:46
Doctors and Borders couldn't specialize in lawyers. They allow our society to specialize by growing food for us. So I just really | 00:08:52
want to thank our farmers and ranchers from the bottom of my heart. | 00:08:57
Mr. Freeman. | 00:09:04 | |
You know that that's actually the way I grew up. That was my life, right? I don't. Some days I wonder if I wouldn't be better | 00:09:07
still doing that. | 00:09:11
However. | 00:09:16 | |
I'm very fortunate to grow up on a farm and ranch that my great grandparents homesteaded, that my mom still lives on and still own | 00:09:18
all that property out there. I'm not actively farming. I have it all leased out though, but we still own all of that property up | 00:09:25
there. And it is, it's it's not a it's not a job, guys. It's a way of life. It is. It is a heritage. It's a way of life. And there | 00:09:32
are certainly days that I miss that part of my way of life, however. | 00:09:40
There are other things that became more important than so. | 00:09:48
I was very blessed to grow up with the family in agriculture. My father was a commercial cattle feeder and. | 00:10:30
Learned a lot about agriculture and I would say in terms of. | 00:10:39
This this wonderful opportunity to serve the people of Will County, it's it's the priority of agriculture. It is a way of life. It | 00:10:44
is what's made well County, I think. | 00:10:49
Stand and shoulders above most counties because of that agriculture that we are so proud of. So thank you for doing the | 00:10:55
Proclamation, Chair and. | 00:10:59
I wish all the best for agriculture. We actually fog ground that your grandparents owned. | 00:11:05
Commissioner James, I cannot say it any better than the agriculturist on those board, this board. I'm proud. That's in my | 00:11:12
background as well. Thanks. Thanks for acting good proclamation. Absolutely. It is important growing up on a farm and and working | 00:11:18
that farm myself. Commissioner Freeman, you're right, it is a it is a way of life and it's in your blood. My heartfelt thank you | 00:11:24
to all those interact community from our farmers, our ranchers, our dairymen and women. | 00:11:30
To all aspects of agriculture and those that supply our ag industry, we got a million, a million different businesses that seem to | 00:11:38
supply them as well. | 00:11:42
They're all important and we thank you. People take for granted the food that shows up in their supermarkets and oftentimes lose | 00:11:46
track of where that comes from and it's by the hard sweat and tears how many of those in the ag industry. So thank you to all of | 00:11:53
them. So moving on, item number one warrants, general warrants, March 15th, 2024. | 00:12:01

It makes 60 grand is a bit of a difference, is it? They were low around their bids. I'm assuming just 'cause their gadget didn't | 00:16:53
meet your your specifications, it just took the $208,000 to get what you needed. | 00:16:58
This is my speculation. | 00:17:04
Good morning, commissioners. David Springer, Fleet Services, you are correct. | 00:17:07
Public Works needs a specific type of machine for this so that they can clean ditches underneath power lines. So there were | 00:17:12

During the original solicitation process that included materials and installation, the Facilities department received one single | 00:18:49

Lifts since they are listed on the state pricing agreement through the State of Colorado. | 00:19:04
And saw the price. Mohawk did not provide a bid during that original bid solicitation and then the new solicitation to Mohawk | 00:19:14

Any amount of Public Works. Public Works is requesting this closure to begin on April 1st and go through June 28th. We do realize | 00:21:54
this is a complex closure after looking at several detour options. | 00:22:00
This takes it to majority of a paved route with very minimal amount of gravel. They'll be half mile of gravel. | 00:22:08
This also allows for noticing for a truck route that would send trucks mainly on three 9233 to 14. | 00:22:17
Because of the difficulties of them being able to utilize the roundabout on 74 and 33. | 00:22:28
This is for the construction of the Eaton Truck route of County Road 76, which will also involve the intersection of 33 in | 00:22:36
multiple occasions, which again we thought would cause confusion coming back and closing that intersection off and on where if we | 00:22:43
have a faulty tour in place for longevity, it's a safer and less confusing for the travel travelling public. | 00:22:51
And how long were you asking for that? Again, I'm sorry that will begin. We're asking for it to begin on April 1st and go through | 00:22:59
June 28th. And there also will be variable message boards in place to give additional information to traffic throughout the | 00:23:04

agricultural producers of Well County, and whereas agriculture's roots run deep in Well County and continue to grow as operations | 00:06:51

roots is strong and those who dedicate their lives to preserving those roots should be celebrated and whereas recognized since | 00:07:03

So thank you to all of | 00:11:53
them. So moving on, item number one warrants, general warrants, March 15th, 2024. | 00:12:01

this is a complex closure after looking at several detour options.
